How to Add Names to Group Photos on Android — NameShot 5.0
A group photo can outlast your memory of everyone in it. At a reunion, club meetup, or workshop, saving the names with the picture makes the photo useful long after the event.
I built NameShot, an Android app that writes names, a place, and a note onto the saved picture itself. The person receiving that picture can read the names without installing an app.

1. Take a photo and add the names
Take a photo in NameShot, then enter the names in the order the people appear. Type them or say them aloud. Check the spelling before saving, and add the gathering, place, or a short note if you want that context on the picture too.
The free plan supports up to 5 names per photo and shows ads. Adding names to photos you already took is a Pro feature.
2. In 5.0, known faces can fill in their names
Once you have named a face, NameShot can recognize it in a later photo and fill in its name. It does not discover the names of strangers. Check the suggested names before saving.
Face auto-fill has a 30-day trial starting with the first successful auto-fill. Continuing that feature afterward requires Pro. This is a trial of face auto-fill, not a promise that every Pro feature is free.

3. Save the picture, then find it by name
The names become part of a new photo file. Later, search your records by name, place, or note. The by-person view collects the photos associated with one person.

Free and Pro, without the guesswork
Free: up to 5 names per photo, voice or keyboard name entry, places and notes, search, and by-person view. Ads are shown.
Pro: face auto-fill, up to 30 names per photo, additional name bar styles and fonts, Excel export with photo thumbnails, adding names to existing photos, and no ads.
Where are photos and face data stored?
Photos, names, and face data are stored on your device, with no NameShot account to create. Google speech recognition may be used for voice entry. The free app includes advertising, so this does not mean that no advertising-related data is collected. Read the Play Store data safety details and privacy policy for that distinction.
Try one small group first
Start with a photo of 3–5 people. Add and check the names, save the result, then try another photo of those people to see how face auto-fill works for you. NameShot is currently for Android.
